BIFMA X5.1 Castor and Chair Base Test Procedure for Pedestal Base Chairs:
a) The chair or chair base shall be cycled 2,000 cycles over the obstacles as shown in picture 1 and then 98,000 cycles on a smooth, hard surface without obstacles.
b) Evaluate the product in accordance with the acceptance level: there shall be no loss of serviceability.
c) At the conclusion of cycling, a 22 M (5 Ibf). Pull force shall be applied to each caster in line with the castor stem centerline.
d) Evaluate the product in accordance with the acceptance level: no part of the caster shall separate from the chair as a result of the application of the 22 N (5 Ibf.) force.
BIFMA X5.1 Castor and Chair Base Test Procedure for Chairs with leg:
